Your furniture is susceptible to various factors such as body oils, perspiration, general wear, and color transfer from clothing. Regular maintenance and proper cleaning can enhance its longevity and performance.
Do's
Regularly dust your sofa with a clean, dry, soft cloth to prevent dust from entering the pores of the leather and causing it to lose elasticity.
For a more thorough cleaning, use a washcloth, and dampen it with mild unscented soap and water or leather cleaner to gently remove stains.
Leather conditioners/leather creams are recommended every 6 to 12 months. Use a sponge, a gentle brush, or a microfiber cloth to apply it to help create a protective barrier and help clean up dirt or stains on your furniture.
Reminder: always test any leather conditioner/cleaners on a hidden area first.
Don'ts
Avoid using cleaning products that contain alcohol, baking soda, detergent, white vinegar, cream of tartar, and lemon juice, as these can strip the color and protective topcoat from your genuine leather, or exacerbate stains.
Also avoid any household chemicals such as window cleaners, bleaches, nail polish (and remover), glue, paint, and other corrosive materials, as these might cause irreparable harm.
